8 Months brings Thanksgiving, the kick off to Nordic season, and more!

A lot is happening in Skylar's 8th month!  She is pulling herself to stand like a champ, cruising, and now (gasp!) climbing up the stairs! She will also stand unassisted for a few seconds when she doesn't realize she is doing it. :)  Sky spends her days on a mission moving about the house in any way she can!

Skylar experienced her 1st Thanksgiving, hosted by Nana.  Uncle Justen was in town and so we packed a lot in--a Turkey trot, trip to Galena, dinner at Globus, and more!  She got her first taste of turkey (unimpressed!) and also had yams, cranberries, and pumpkin for her Thanksgiving feast (she actually slept through dinner but who is counting?).  After Thanksgiving, Skylar got to meet Santa at Giacobbi Square.  Who knew Santa has a 2nd home in Sun Valley?

We also found a Kindershuttle so now we can all Nordic ski together. I'm telling you, this is a serious workout! Holy cow!!  And Nana took Skylar sledding and the girl loved it! She loves speed--kinda scary but so cute! She'll bravely wave her arm with a big smile on her face as she sleds at Galena by herself. That girl.  She also likes to be upside down. Oh dear.

Skylar's 8th month also brought her first word....drumroll...Mama!  Now, we didn't think she was actually calling me this but after many days and "coincidences", we think it is real.  Lucas brought her into bed one day this week and I wasn't looking at Skylar when they came in. "Maaaa-maaa!" she yelled!  I don't know...we'll collect more evidence but Bonnie and Lucas are in agreement. It's happening.

Seven months of glory

The photos are piling up and I will be doing a photo dump from my phone very soon! 

Here's what's happening in the life of our 7 month old girl!...
Sky still only has 2 teeth but she is definitely teething! Her hair is getting so long--we have to put a barrette in so her hair doesn't go in her eyes.  Bangs??!!! We don't know! Skylar's favorite food is for sure avocado but she has tried lots of foods including sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, tomatoes, beans, tofu, blueberries, apples, mango, oranges, bananas, peaches, quinoa cereal, plain yogurt, and teething biscuits! She is getting more into this eating thing.  Her dad has also snuck her tastes of foods I'd rather not mention (aka chocolate frosting from Rob Hogan!).  She still LOVES water and will splash like crazy in the tub.  She might just be a swimmer some day!  Skylar loves to stand--Lucas calls it "standing practice." She will stand and hold on to her crib or her playland forever!  She is still army crawling and will do a few real crawls each day.  She tries to pull herself up to a stand on anything she can but she can't quite do it yet.  Skylar loves to listen to books, cruise around her playland, grab her little Sesame Street characters Mimi brought her, play with bubbles, and "walk" while you hold on to her hands.  She doesn't love her jumperoo but likes to play with it from the outside and get the music to come on.  Skylar loves her time with Nana while I'm at work.  They have so much fun together, especially in Nana's awesome backyard!  She is still not sleeping very well--we are working on it!  Skylar just made it through an entire workout class at Child Watch at the YMCA--we are hoping she turned a corner! She will also kiss the mirror when she sees herself in it :) So cute. Skylar also is imitating the sign for "milk" and has used it spontaneously a few times while being fed. SO PROUD!!!!

Happy half birthday!

Skylar is a half a year old! It's hard to believe but when we look back, we have packed a lot of fun into those 6 months!!

Here are her 6 month stats!

Height: 26 inches (65%ile)
Weight: 15 pounds, 8 oz (35%ile)
Teeth: 2 bottom teeth have emerged!
Hair: Light brown...sometimes looking like it has blonde highlights and sometimes an auburn tint
Eyes: Blue but with some green in them too
First Foods: Avocado and Sweet Potatoes
Favorite Activity: Swimming, Bath time, and "Flying"
Milestones: Army crawling and standing holding on to something, understands the sign for milk, all done, and more
Other Firsts: Rode in the Burley behind a bike, hiked Proctor and Adam's Gulch, drinks from a sippy cup
Sleeping: Not so good since Mama went back to work! :/ She is eating a lot at night. Eek
