5 Months!

Skylar turned 5 months while we were in Cabo! So she spent her 5 month birthday at the pool :)  She can now sit up for pretty long periods of time on her own!! Skylar is rolling over both ways and she is able to cover a lot of ground.  She can get to her toys or under Daddy's work chair! ha!  Skylar also has 2 teeth that broke through!  The first one broke through on August 19th.  Skylar has been handling it pretty well....she just gets a little fussy at night.  She will also lift both arms to show she wants to be picked up (it's so cute!).  We have been using baby sign with her for quite some time...some signs we are working on are milk, more, all done, change diaper, mommy, daddy, ball, bath, where, dog, cat, and book.  We are pretty sure she understands the sign for milk and she gets very happy when we sign "change diaper."  It is fun to practice with her.  One of her favorite games is to play "popcorn" or "earthquake" with Lucas on the bed! She will reach for toys and is very good at grabbing objects (especially noses, hair....) She still loves her "Fire Engine" book. Skylar has had a harder time sleeping these past few weeks...maybe due to teeth (so tired!!)? She also started going to Karla's house this week when I went back to work.  She started drinking a few ounces here and there from a bottle again (victory!)  Skylar is lucky to have Nana Bones close by and she will spend some time with her each week when I am at work.  She is getting more interested in food and will watch us eat and reach for certain foods like an apple.  Skylar also tasted a lime in Cabo from Aunt Joy and had a tiny taste of avocado.  She is a water bug and loves swimming--she will kick her legs and splash with her arms.  She doesn't seem to mind some water in her face!  Future swimmer?

Mimi and Bumpa's 40th Anniversary Celebration in Cabo

We headed down to the Dreams Resort in Cabo San Lucas to celebrate my parents' 40th anniversary with the entire family!! Skylar got her first passport stamp and was able to hang out with her four cousins (Caroline, Jack, Harper, and Jack Henry), three uncles (Uncle Jim, Eric, and Jeff), three aunts (Aunt Joy, Corinne, and Heather), and two grandparents (Mimi and Bumpa).  It was pretty special!  Highlights of the trip include the anniversary dinner at Portofino with awesome views of the ocean and toasting my parents, everyone hanging out at the pool and each one of us taking turns to see how far we could swim under water (Uncle Eric won), the girls' pottery painting party, hanging at the swim up bar with my brothers, Lucas, Heather, and Sky during the rain storm, seeing how much Skylar loved swimming and splashing in the pool, just being able to see everybody ever single day for an entire week, and the siblings' night out dinner while my parents watched all 5 of the grandkids!  Oh and our favorite drink on the trip was a chocolate martini :)
